New gamingmouse + problems on win8 *SOLVED*

Postby Maj.Gen.NeckBBreaker » Sun Sep 08, 2013 8:43 am

Hey there guys!
I've got a new mouse and a new laptop, finally I can play DoDS on high settings xDD

And I got a new problem:
I've bought a brandnew mouse from Roccat, Kone XTD. It worked good for a week on my older laptop on win 7 and now its kind of lagging on my win8.

Tried to reinstall the latest drivers and also to turn off DCU (Distance Control Unit).
Tried to plug it in to different USB ports and also put it back on factiry defaults.
I've got a Razor mousepad so that should not be the problem as well.
Any more info needed?
I wanted to ask you guys first what to do, I know some of you got gaming mice as well and maybe you are faster than the Roccat support or also had similar issues.

HELP ME!!!!!! =D

Need more info about;
Tried to reinstall the latest drivers

There are 3 different drivers, have you tried all 3?
That's where I would start ;)

First of all, thanks for your contribution Chet! =)
Yeah I tried all three of them. Was about to try the drivers of their other mice but then I thought I might just fill my system with too much garbage I would have to get rid off later on.
Also wrote to the support yesterday but I did not get any auto mail that my case will be handled. If I dont get an anwser in a week I will write them an email instead of the form. Hope they will make it till then. Any further ideas till the support says anything?^^

When i bought a new PC with win8 on it i had the exact same problem, I thought it just was my mouse that broke so i threw it away and bought a new one. The new one hasn't lagged, yet...
I have no idea what could be wrong tough

Just making sure, did you uninstall the device prior to trying a new driver? If not, there could be a conflict there.

When I got this computer new, Win7 had just came out and I was having all sorts of problems. After sending it back and fourth 3 times they finally took my advice that the mobo didn't jive with the Win7 software. For some reason, now when you upgrade windows, not all your older devices will work. Since Win8 is so new, you may want to search to see if there are conflicts between your version and your device.

I found that it is compatible, with -limited- functionality. So, set it aside, and wait until they get it worked out, that's the problem, and why they keep trying new drivers. Give it time.... as well, at that link above (first one I posted), they had a feature where you can submit your email, and get notified when new drivers come available.

where to submit your email ;)

You may also want to contact those same folks and give them a run-down of your symptoms. Could help them problem solve.

Before you install a new driver after uninstalling an old one, it's a good idea to clean your registry, I use "AML free registry cleaner", free & easy to use.

(oh, and np ;) )

I think all you did was uninstall / reinstall the device fully. Sometimes drivers don't download correctly, or they updated between the time you tossed #1 and installed #2. .... maybe heh

And again, thanks for your input!
Today I got an anwser by Roccat: They said I should just clean my mouse sensor. Did it with a cotton bud and guess what:
Seems that this was the only problem here -.-
Sounds pretty simple but I never had any problems with my mouse sensor so it did not come to my mind to simply clean that thing. My mouse has 8200 dpi so even a stupid little bit of dust seems to ruin everything on it xD
Its still hard to control when I set it on 2500+ dpi but I think thats simply because I'm not used to high sens yet.

So my case is solved, praise the guy who invented cotton buds! Amen! xD
