Not to revive something too old but gun use in canada isn't that bad if you are using the non-restricted class of firearms. These are long barreled shotguns and rifles and are at most semi auto with very limited magazine sizes (except 22lr). Once you have your license you can order a poutine, walk in an outdoors store, pick any toy you want off the rack and be out in time to get it served to you (i had to use the poutine reference hehe). Restricted weapons like handguns and rifles banned by name (usually from a polit. trying to garner votes from urban yuppies) are really annoying to try to use -> must be fired on a range and have travel permit when carrying them, which even depicts the route you take to get to the range.
