I've heard really good stuff about gerbers balis as well as spydercos, and to be honest I'm tempted to spend the 9 bucks on the bottlefly bottle opener, just cuz it's cool.

Gerber doesn't make balisongs. The only USA knife manufacturers (other than the custom makers) that do are Bear & Son / Bear OPS, Benchmade, Bradley, Cold Steel, Microtech, and Spyderco.

And technically, Bradley doesn't even make balisongs, they contract other manufacturers to do so for them. The Bradley Mayhem is made by Benchmade, and the Kimura is made by Kershaw.

You're right, the "Bottle-fly" does look cool. It's only $9 but shipping is a few more bucks. The lowest price I was able to find was $11.99 shipped from Bladeplay. I'll probably be adding one to the next order I make from a place that sells it.

I meant to type Benchmade, but was looking at a broken Gerber paraframe on reddit. Those things snap into a razor edge.

11.99 shiped! Hahaha I wish, I have to wait till bladehq gets more spyderco sharpeners in before I order my PM2 because 40 bucks shiping is too much to pay for only one item. letalone for a bottlefly.

Used to like those knives myself back when I was a teenager. Don't have any of them anymore, unless there is one hidden away in a box somewhere. Which might be the case. Don't know any good sources anymore.

Most online knife dealers sell them. But you're going to need to spend at least $70 to get a decent one. This one is the best bang for the buck. Only $70 but flips just as good as balisongs costing four times as much. Any of the Bear Ops balisongs (not the Bear & Son balisongs, same company but very cheaply made, although if you can only spare $35, a Bear & Son is probably your best bet). The other Bear Ops balisongs have different appearances but are functionally identical. The fancier ones obviously cost a bit more than the $70 plain black one.
