It's very tough to narrow it down to just 3. I'll have to go with:

The Shawshank Redemption
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (the 1974 original, not the 2009 remake, which while still pretty good, just doesn't compare with the original)

I just had to complete the list, so I added my top 10, sry tp break the order =P
Those are my fav movies, starting with the unbeatable Nr. 1: DIE HARD 3
Enjoy the best trailers youtube could offer! ;)

1. Die Hard 3 - With a vengeance (1995) Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson
Yippie kay yay motherfcker!
2. Scarface (1983) Al Pacino
Say Hello to my little friend!

4. Thank You for smoking (2005) Aaron Eckhart
5. Requiem for a dream (2000)
I know we got kids in SRRP, I know it probably won't work but please do not watch this movie, unless you feel mature enough to face the horrible effects of drugs on people. It took me a few days to cope with it when I watched it the first time.
6. Sleepers (1996) Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Bacon
7. City of God (2002)
It was like a message from God: "Honesty doesn't pay, sucker!
8. Gamer (2005) Gerard Butler
9. The butterfly effect (2004) Ashton Kutcher
10. Take those 3 movies as one, they are just hilarious =D
Meet the parents (2000)
Meet the fockers (2005)
Little Fockers (2010)
Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand

1. The Train

Old Burt Lancaster movie. Excellent plot and action in this WW2 movie. It's black and white but the action and acting are superb. Paul Schofield as the Nazi colonel is impeccable.

2. Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Great acting and plot in this old sci-fi movie.

3. Saving Private Ryan

Best action and realism. ...and I have a soft spot for Spielberg movies I guess. ;)
